Snow Report

17/02/2024

Snow- & Weather report

A massive snowstorm with wind speeds over 100 km/h made for an eventful week. Immediately afterwards the temperature rose significantly. This led to high avalanche activity and landslides at lower altitudes (access roads).

The past week was characterized by warm weather. Georgia cannot escape the general weather situation over Europe either. The low pressure areas located very far to the north carry warm air from North Africa towards the north.

The snow was compact. The snow cover was partly wet. In the meantime it even rained a bit in Bakhmaro

Snow Data

  • Snow depth Bakhmaro: 200 cm
  • Snow depth Adjara: 300 cm
  • Last snowfall: 15/02/2024
  • Amount of fresh snow: 5 cm
  • Low temperature: -5 C°
  • Maximum temperature: 6 C°

Freeride & Tour

Two challenging weeks lie behind us. The massive snowstorm 10 days ago resulted in a downday in Bakhmaro and more downdays in project X. The Wolfsbetthütten crew only came to the hut on Thursday and we were still struggling to cope with the snow masses until Saturday.

Too much to do to write the snow report last week.

Last week there was little powder available. It was either hardpack or soaked snow. Some of the snow conditions are quite good. At the end of the week there was 5 cm of fresh snow and bright sunshine.

Reviews

We are always happy to receive a review of one of our freeride tours. On the one hand, the review offers us valuable feedback on our work and helps us to develop further, but on the other hand, it helps freeriders find out whether and which of our tours are right for them.

During the season we send out a link to this snow report every week to inform you as a freerider about the snow conditions and the course of the season, to give tips for your tour and to introduce the team. Of course we also want to increase the anticipation. If you no longer wish to receive the link, you can unsubscribe from the snow report at any time. With the end of the season we also stop the weekly snow report.
