Since the beginning of October, we've received hardly any precipitation. The predicted blizzard practically failed to materialize. While the weather forecast predicted up to 2.5 meters of fresh
snow, we didn't even get half that.
However, there was definitely strong wind. This resulted in a solid snowpack in the lee of the mountains (northwest to southeast), which was then covered with loose snow. Drifted hollows and the
forests are snowed in. Further east, there's still a significant lack of snow to create a solid base.
We've broken trails on Small Bakhmaro and Maximund up to the second pickup point. The snow on the north-facing slopes is of excellent quality, but the base layer is still quite low. Maximundo
currently has a good 75cm of snow. With (Fallline) Bobby, we have a great freeride dog for the winter. He already accompanied me on runs in late summer and is now really tearing up the
powder.
We did Japanese, Buksieti, and Phaphara as ski tours. The base layer is still significantly lacking on each of these slopes, making it difficult to create cat tracks.
Airbags are mandatory in our groups. The added safety is well worth it.
If you don't have an airbag, you can rent one from us. We have Mammut models available. Each airbag comes with a probe and shovel; an avalanche transceiver is also available upon request, but
it's always better to bring and use your own familiar device. Alternatively, you can also borrow cartridges from us from the brands Ortovox and ABS.
However, we urgently require a reservation as we have a limited supply on site!
During the season we send out a link to this snow report every week to inform you as a freerider about the snow conditions and the course of the season, to give tips for your tour and to introduce the team. Of course we also want to increase the anticipation. If you no longer wish to receive the link, you can unsubscribe from the snow report at any time. With the end of the season we also stop the weekly snow report.
